Have you ever wanted to learn how to make, mix and build with cob?
This simple substance (dirt/clay + sand + water) has been successfully used for thousands of years in all climates all over the world to build homes, ovens, saunas, benches, garden walls and other structures. It requires minimal tools to build (mostly your feet, hands, a shovel, some buckets and a screen to get rid of bigger rocks).
🪣
If cared for properly, it stands the test of time (literally hundreds of years or more) and costs almost nothing to construct compared to modern building materials. A cob oven makes awesome bread/pizza, too!

Cob also retains and reflects heating and cooling, like a battery, involves NO toxic materials, keeps humidity levels managed and looks beautiful.

Other Information to Know:
👣Bring your own bagged lunch and a water bottle. There will be a water bottle refill station for your convenience.
👣Wear warmer layers that are appropriate for being outdoors for the whole day. (Temperatures on that day have historically been a high of 68-71 F with lows of 49-51 F. The temperature can change a lot throughout the day.)
👣Bring sunscreen and bug spray, if necessary, for yourself.
👣We will "dance" barefoot on a tarp to prepare the cob, which is a mixture of clay, sand and water. Straw and/or sawdust/wood shavings can also be used with cob structures for added insulation.
👣This is a fun outdoor workshop that will involve physical movement and building with cob "bricks" to form an earthen bread/pizza oven on a heat-proof base. Full hands-on instruction provided. Once you learn how to build a basic cob oven, you can apply what you learn to create other structures with this material!
👣If you need to camp overnight here (either sleeping in the healing hut or in a tent, car or RV), you may do so for an additional $50 fee to stay, with reservations and payment made at the time of registration for the workshop. (There is a clean composting toilet outhouse, a firepit, free guest Wi-Fi and a private outdoor shower you may use if you camp here.) You are responsible for your own meals and setup/cleanup.
