June, 2021 Newsletter

Welcome to the June, 2021 Harmony Way Newsletter!

After Mother Nature's beautiful display of May flowers and tender spring greens, we are now rapidly moving into berry season in Massachusetts! These sweet, colorful, little beauties are jam-packed with antioxidants and taste amazing, especially freshly picked. Berries are often surprisingly simple to grow and/or forage. What is your favorite berry?

Mine is: ALL OF THEM. :)

Also, special thanks to all the fathers this month! To all of the fathers, grandfathers, ancestral grandfathers, those who are dog/cat/pet dads, uncles, Godfathers, those who could not conceive or who lost a child, foster, step and adoptive dads or those who are like a parent to someone or who identify as a father in some way, you are so deeply loved and appreciated! 💖

This Month's Exercise Demos:

(From: Jessica Valant Pilates)

(From: The Fitness Marshall Dance Workout)

Above are two very different workouts. Both are effective, as well as appropriate for complete beginners. If you are new to Pilates, it is wonderfully toning and stretching, as well as relaxing. If you are new to dance fitness, this instructor always has engaging, fun routines that I personally enjoy. I hope you like both workouts.

Always check in with your medical health provider for advice before starting a new workout program, being mindful of any existing conditions or injuries that you have, bringing these up with a medical professional prior to trying any workout routine.

This Month's Wellness Articles:

(From: The Mayo Clinic)

(From: Mountain Rose Herbs)

Sugar is extremely inflammatory, according to a plethora of recent, evidence-based scientific and medical studies. The microbiome is a major component of our bodies, especially prevalent in the digestive tract. Sugar can disrupt the delicate balance of healthy bacteria in the microbiome. The above two articles this month share much more information about both of these often interconnected topics. I hope you find them useful, as both are important.

This Month's Yummy Recipe Links:

(From: Mountain Rose Herbs)

GF, Vegan, Nut-Free

(From: Vegan Richa)

Grain-Free, Nut-Free, Vegan, Gluten-Free

Two fun facts:

Dogs typically love food.

Popsicles can also be for dogs.

(I call them "Pupsicles.")

If you have a "hot dog" (…yes, unfortunately I really enjoy puns), the above treat may be a great way to help that pooch cool off this summer. As an added bonus, there is a special recipe to help humans cool off, too! A strawberry lemonade slushie is refreshing, nutritious and wholesome. Stay cool this summer and enjoy these recipes!

PS You have the power to make the most of any day and to turn a bad day into a better day, even if it means finding the tiniest reasons to be grateful. In focusing on gratitude, even a horrible day can become slightly more enjoyable or tolerable. (Just make sure you also allow and process those feelings that are coming up and are perceived as negative!) Know that, whatever you are going through right now, you are loved and are not alone...and I hope you feel many reasons to be grateful.

💖Michelle
