Welcome to the April, 2021 Harmony Way Newsletter!

Spring is officially here! May you and your current projects bloom and grow beautifully. Just as the April sprouts push up through the earth to reach for the sun and thrive, you can take inspiration from nature and do the same each year at this time.

This month's newsletter has several special events, two lovely workouts, two useful articles and two simple, but also healthier versions of decadent recipes for you to enjoy. Wishing you a wonderful April and a spring with lots of fresh air and time spent enjoying nature. For anyone interested in the current virtual goodness at Harmony Way, such as special events, classes or private sessions, thank you for your continued enthusiasm and support! 💖

LEARN HOW TO GROW YOUR OWN SPROUTS

Sprouting for fun and Health!

In this fun virtual program (provided through the Westfield Athenaeum Library), Michelle Caron will teach you all about sprouts, including how to safely and effectively grow them using a few simple materials, including your own sterilized mason jar, and how to enjoy eating them as well. Sprouts are a delicious, nutritious addition to meals that can bring fresh greens for a very low cost to the grower all winter long. Some materials will be provided by the library for a "plant-along" activity as you learn. There will also be a follow-up session the following week for troubleshooting/questions. On Zoom: Wednesday, April 7th, 6:30-7:30 PM (Eastern Time)

Please contact the Westfield Library to register for this event:

https://www.westath.org/ or (413) 568-7833, ext. 111

This Month's Exercise Demos:

(From Yoga With Adriene)

(From POPSUGAR Fitness)

The two workout links listed above are both great for toning, but are also all about self-love and body positivity. One is yoga, while the other is more Pilates-oriented. They are both appropriate for a variety of levels of fitness.

Always check in with your medical health provider for advice before starting a new workout program, being mindful of any existing conditions or injuries that you have, bringing these up with a medical professional prior to trying any workout routine.

This Month's Wellness Articles:

(From: Maria Noel Groves, Clinical Herbalist)

(From NIH)

The above articles may come in handy as we move outdoors this spring to do more exercise or gardening outside in nature. Ticks are everywhere now, and not only in the summer months. In some states, they are active right through the winter. Knowing how to prevent tick/bug bites and what to do in the event of one is so helpful. The other article about exercise is information that is always useful to know as well!

This Month's Yummy Recipe Links:

(From: Vegan Richa)

GF, Vegan, Nut-Free Option

(From: Oh, She Glows)

Grain-Free, Nut-Free, Vegan, Gluten-Free

The above two recipes are, once again this month, delicious and classic comfort foods. The cookies are both grain and nut free, which is not always easy to find for those who need this type of recipe. The brown sugar in that recipe can easily be replaced by date sugar/blended dates, more maple syrup, molasses or coconut palm sugar for a slightly lower glycemic, more nutrient-dense treat. The mac and cheese powder recipe is something that can be saved to use for a quick meal or snack when one is looking for a savory/cheesy comfort food favorite in a somewhat healthier version that still tastes great. If you try either or both of these tasty recipes, I hope you enjoy them!

PS Many people are grieving due to all types of losses at this time. Take comfort in the fact that, even when you are experiencing a particularly challenging or sad day,

YOU ARE DEEPLY LOVED AND ARE NEVER ALONE!

Sending you a virtual hug of support and lots of love,

💖Michelle
